Arbitrariness continues in the Sumgait Jewish Religious Community - COMPLAINT

Since December 8, 2009, the “Religious Community of Sumgait Jews,” registered by the State Committee under certificate No. 100109A2-68 and operating at the legal address of Sumgait, 3rd quarter, building 6/21, apartment 22, has been subjected to arbitrariness.

Jewish resident of Sumgait Nasimi Abilov, one of the founders of the community, reported this to AJMEDIA.INFO.

Based on the provided information , in the community, which has been operating for 14 years, there was a lot of lawlessness, arbitrariness and theft. Although there were presidents of the community, this was only formally, and in fact the community was ruled by a foreign citizen, Leicher Menachem Mendel.

According to information, Mendel acted rudely to the founder of the community, which has not had a chairman for more than a year, and did not hand over the community’s documents to the founder.

Despite the prohibition in the community's charter on foreign interference in its affairs, he effected changes in the work of the community, influencing individual members of Jewish origin and forcing them to make these changes. Mendel even oversaw and continues to oversee the community's financial operations.

This indicates a direct violation of the “Law on Freedom of Religion” of the Republic of Azerbaijan, since such actions by a foreign citizen are illegal.
